An Art and Culture forum
entitled “Polite society leading harmonious nation”. This forum will discuss
how the practice of culture, heritage and tradition are able to play important
roles in nation security, development and change the mind set of Malaysian.
This forum will be discussed by three panellists, Ust. Kazim Elias – a
well-known independent speaker in Perak, a cultural anthropologist and a crime
analyst, Kamal Affendi Hashim.
Objectives :
· To
inculcate the awareness upon politeness in UTP students and community nearby.
·
To
shift the paradigm of some people by related culture to entertainment only.
·
To
nurture the culture of politeness in UTP students’ lives.
2.0
MALAM PRIHATIN SANGGAR
MUSTIKA
Venue : Main Hall
Date : 28 November 2012 (Wednesday)

Participants : UTP international
and
local students, primary school students and community nearby .
Description :

This
program is a cultural performance from 3 main races in Malaysia which is Malay,
Chinese and Indian. Besides that, the event will highlight cultures of the
minority groups in Malaysia and also the cultures from the African and Arabian
contingent. There also will be a show lifestyle shows such as ber‘pukong’.
Objectives :
·
To
exhibit our beautiful cultural performance heritage to local and foreign UTP
students.
·
To
remind some heritages that almost exiled.
·
To
nurture integration among local students through culture.
3.0
HERITAGE AND CULTURE CARNIVAL
Venue : Oval Park, Tasik UTP
Date : 24 - 25 November 2012
Time : 8.00 a.m - 6.00 p.m
Targeted
Participants : UTP
students, profit and non-profit
organizations and community nearby.
Description :
·
This
program is a carnival which includes a heritage and culture from different
cultures both local and international. It will involve exhibitions and
demonstrations of tradition and arts.
·
The
carnival will also hold a display of contemporary artwork by local artists.
Here, the artist can truly express their individualism and exhibit their works
in the liberty of heart and mind.
·
Another
aspect of the carnival is the display of traditional games of both local and
international origin. There will be certain games which will hold competitions
for the visitors.

give beneficial information for the students about the uniqueness of Malaysian
heritage and arts

provide a platform where students can ask directly to the experts regarding
their conscious to certain issues about heritage and arts.

give new experience to foreign students and some local students about
traditional games in Malaysia.

To
promote integration through competition conducted.
·
To
exhibit some heritage that almost exiled.
· To
promote government campaign on improving awareness upon arts, cultures and
heritages among students.
·
To
provide a platform to companies in introducing the products of art and culture
that is available in market today.

create interactions between the citizens around UTP with our event.

expose students’ creativity and pry up their hidden talent.
SUB EVENT
1.0 LONGEST BATIK PRINTING ATTEMPT
Venue : Undercroft
Date : 9th
November 2012 – 28th November 2012
Target Participants : UTP
students, UTP staffs, and
local
communities
Description :
·
This
is an attempt at a Malaysian Book of Records. The batik design and the outline
will be pre-determined and prepared on a long white stretch of white cloth.
Those who are interested can then follow the outline and color the batik using
the colors prepared. The current record is 250m set in 2012 during the Millions
of Youth Gathering in Putrajaya.
Objectives :

To
exhibit our beautiful cultural performance heritage to local and foreign UTP
students.

To
engage students in being involve in traditional crafts.
·
To
nurture integration among local students through culture.
